Authors will write documents using standard MS Word and be able to easily:

  • Add de novo content (text, tables, images), insert variables, and apply all required formatting and styles.
Search existing components in the system for reuse within a document while authoring. Components may be found by either matching related properties (e.g., name, study phase, lifecycle state, etc.) or selected text within the component itself – the user can select the reuse policy.
Find and reuse content from related components previously written for another document – the user can select the reuse policy
Find and reuse library content from governed library options (e.g., required/standard text, therapeutic area specific text) - the reuse policy for these library components is set at the library level.
Insert variables for easy reuse of commonly used and managed terms

All standard Word functionality is available for authoring, making user adoption easy.

AUTHORING
Once a document has been generated, authors and reviewers can collaborate in real time and work with the entire document in their familiar user interface, Microsoft Word, via a seamlessly distributed and installed modern App that uses Microsoft ClickOnce technology. The platform manages components transparently by maintaining relationships between a document and its components and by tracking parent-child relationships for reused components. All authoring functionality is available from the MS Word interface. The structured content authoring solution uses the same ISO compliant Open XML standard used by Microsoft Word.

CO-AUTHORING
The platform offers co-authoring functionality, which allows multiple users to work on the same document simultaneously. Co-authoring can be initiated by authorized users and authors can be invited to the authoring session to write the document.
